An incomplete cast copper alloy 'signet' finger ring with engraved seal matrix bezel of probable post medieval or early modern date (1600 - 1800 AD). The hoop of the finger ring was oval (an irregular D shape) in plan and D shaped in cross section; it is now incomplete having been broken across the rear of the hoop and the shape is now heavily distorted. A gold finger ring with a single purple stone of modern date (1750-1900). The hoop of the finger ring is sub-circular in plan and has a faceted D shaped cross section. The ring consists of a central oval purple stone which is held by six gold claws/clasps. The stone itself is polished and oval almost heart shaped and is probably glass rather than amethyst. The stone has a width of 6.8mm and a length of 7.3mm. Probable Roman finger ring (1st to 4th century): Only the bezel and shoulders remain, the hoop is missing and the breaks are possibly recent. The bezel is oval in plan and has a large cell which contains a white paste. The edges of the cell are abraded and may have been deeper than it is now and the original setting is now missing. The upper and lower faces of the bezel are decorated with two clusters of three high-relief pellets. The shoulders are decorated with a cluster of six larger high-relief pellets.
