A complete cast copper alloy strap fitting. This item is classed as a strap-slide. It dates to the Medieval period (late 12th-late 14th c.). The fitting is of trapezoidal form with a curved-top frame featuring a moulded barrel like design. Within the frame are two opposing, asymmetrical projections. It measures 19.91 mm long, 23.78 mm wide, 5.09 mm thick and weighs 3.21 grams. The frame exhibits numerous file marks. It is in a good stable condition with an even light green patina.
