Object type: METAL WORKING DEBRIS
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Published Find published
Battered strip of thin lightweight white metal, perhaps silver. The original dimensions of the strip must have been c. 26mm x 18mm, but it has been folded roughly in half down the long axis. The fold is not particularly sharp, and it is possible that it was folded over something organic such as cloth or thin leather which has not survived. On each face are two rows of sub-triangular or rectangular punchmarks set transversely and apparently not in neat pairs. The stamp used may have been a square stamp held at an angle. This object is hand-made, but cannot be identified or closely dated.

Object type: BEAD
Broad period: MODERN
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Published Find published
Description: Incomplete object, perhaps a bead, made of beaded silver wire. The wire is coiled into 4½ surviving turns which become gradually smaller, forming a truncated cone. The beading is very neat and perfect, with narrow beads forming transverse ridges on the inner surfaces rather than rounded beads. On the exterior, however, the beads are very worn so that the surface is almost smooth. The beading on the narrower end is in unworn condition, suggesting that at least one turn of the coil has been lost here. The beading on the wider end is unworn for about half its circumferen…

An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman dragonesque plate brooch. The brooch, which would originally have been S-shaped is missing one head/terminal along with most of the pin due to old damage. Complete cast copper-alloy asymmetrical double loop buckle of Post-Medieval date. The frame has one trapezoid and one D-shaped loop and is D-shaped in section with a flattened back. A lobed knop, possibly a stylized acorn, projects outwards from the centre of the outer edge of the D-shaped loop forming a finial. There are also smaller lobed knops to either end of the strap bar. The strap bar has traces of iron corrosion around the centre which is all that remains of the iron pin. Whitehead illustrates a similar buckle (2003: 92) no. 584, which he dates to 1575-1700 AD.
