A copper alloy single loop buckle frame. The frame is oval. There is a constriction mid way along one of the long edges for the attachment of a pin. The frame is flat fronted with chamfered inner and outer edges. It is hollow at the back. On the opposite long edge to the pin constriction is a large knop in the form of a monkey-like or human head. An incomplete copper-alloy strap fitting. A plano-convex baluster-shaped central plate with a transverse collar at the top and two at the base. The upper terminal is a flattened circular projection with an oval central aperture. There is a recess around the aperture on the front face. At the base there is a necked, globular terminal, convex at the front and base, flat at the back. At the back, projecting from the rear of the upper of the two transverse collars is a tongue shaped flange. The end of the flange is angled upwards at 90 degrees. Two gold finger rings found together. One is a stirrup ring with a rectangular stone setting with a gold initial R over. The ring was made with the openwork R on the bezel and a rectangular slice of garnet set in a recess behind it. The back of the recess has then been infilled with a rectangular gold plate. A fragment of a limestone roof tile. The pointed apex of a probably lozengiform roof tile. There is a sub circular chipped hole at the apex. This has been pecked from both faces. The material is Purbeck Marble, a fossiliferous limestone found in south Dorset (the Isle of Purbeck). Roof tiles such as these are common on Roman sites, but continue in use into the 19th century.
