A base sherd from a Roman vessel dating to c. AD 43-410. A hard mid grey fabric with sparse sub angular dirty grey inclusions which can be scratched with a needle indicating that they are calcareous. The exterior surface sparkles with mica. The base of the sherd is flat, so possibly a bowl. Probably wheel thrown. When the body of the sherd is placed on a radius chart, the sherd (about 7.5% of the whole) would have been about 40cms in diameter the body rising at an angle of 50 degrees. An incomplete cast gilt copper-alloy Limoges mount of medieval date (c.1150-1350). Description: The mount is anthropomorphic in form, consisting of a sub-oval plate with a concavo-convex cross section and a solid sub-spherical head. An early Medieval (1000 - 1100 AD) cast copper alloy stirrup strap mount of Anglo-Scandinavian style and Williams Class A, Type 1. An incomplete Medieval copper-alloy mount dating to circa AD 1230-1260. It is a bar mount. Rectangular in plan and plano-convex in section. Its two terminals are broadly oval knops with circular rivet holes. One rivet is intact. The central element contains two rectangular knops protuding from each edge.
