A complete copper-alloy button from the late Medieval to early Post-Medieval period c.AD 1450 -1600. The button is solid, circular, biconvex and its surface is undecorated. The back of the button has a centrally placed integral perforated short shank. Length 12.39mm, Diameter 10.51mm, Weight 3.6g Compare with Bailey, G. 2004, Buttons and Fasteners 500BC-1840AD - pp.22-29, figs.7.30-7.41.

Description: An incomplete silver post-medieval bodkin (AD c.1600-c.1700), missing most of its length, including its sharp point. The surviving piece of the bodkin consists of an engraved florally decorated terminal consisting of a downward pointing flower below a large single flower. These are topped by coiled Greek style column tops surmounted by a small cross. Complete cast copper-alloy spur rowel in the form of a seven-pointed star dating to either the Medieval or Post Medieval period. The arms are a flattened oval in cross-section. There is central circular 4mm diameter perforation through the body of the rowel through which the axle attaching it to the spur would have been located. On both sides there are radial grooves at the basal intersection of each of the star arms. The artefact has a brown-green rough surface. Decoration comprises an engraved octofoil reserved on a field of closely spaced punched annulets and set within a border formed by two concentric circles.
