Object type: FURNITURE FITTING
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Fragment of a copper alloy, probably 19th century, clothes hook finial. The object consists of the multi-facetted terminal end of the hook (see NARC-3B2E02 and NARC-C7EEA2 for complete examples) with the remains of a short stub of the shaft underneath. These objects are sometimes mistaken for the heads of Saxon polygonal pins, and vice versa; however the lack of age and established patina on this example is much more suggestive of the 19thC clothes hook terminal identity. Circa AD1800-1920.
