An incomplete cast copper alloy strap distributor / link for a horse harness fitting of later Early Medieval date. The fitting has a flat back and rounded front, it had two loops for straps, connected via a rectangular bar to either side of a barrel shaped central boss. There is a thin groove either side of the boss. The object is missing most of both loops due to ancient breaks. The central boss has a hollowed rear, and the side bars a central groove. The fitting had a green patina over the brown metal. The remains are 44mm long, 12mm wide and 10mm deep, it weighs 14.4g

Object type: UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Leicestershire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A fragment of copper alloy which is rectangular in plan and hemispherical in profile, with a flat inner face and a gently curved outer face and old breaks at either end. It measures 18.1mm in length and is 8.5mm wide, with a maximum thickness at the midpoint of 5.6mm, and it weighs 5.4g. The object has a dark green colour and appears to be of considerable age. I have no idea what this fragment was once a part of, but the findspot is adjacent to Bosworth Battlefield, which may or may not be significant.
