The object comprises a flat undecorated circular disc with flat faces, and a small central circular perforation with signs of wear around the edges on both sides.A flange projects from the edge of one face in one area. Incomplete weathered and altered gabbro axehead with what appears to be hornblende vein inclusions. The butt end of the axehead is formed and has survived and the blade end has been damaged through use and resharpened. The axe is also slightly waisted along its length showing wear from being bound to a wooden haft. Since deposition the axehead has been struck by the plough which has left several gashes to the surface on the ventral face, while the dorsal face remains unfinished and retains the original surface of the cobble that it was derived from. Head and upper part of bow of a Roman copper alloy Trumpet brooch of Mackreth 2011 TR 1.2b1. There is a horizontal tubular attachment for a hinged pin on the reverse, with remains of the pin loop visible in a central slot and held in place by an axis bar. On the front one speck of probably red enamel remains within a decorative arrangement which is very close to that on Mackreth 2011, 119, pl. 80 nos. 4934 and 11826. The old break lies above the base of the head where there would have been transverse ribbed mouldings. Extant length 18.4mm. Width 17.8mm. c.75 - c.200.

Rather abraded post-medieval end cap of a scale-tang knife with the remains of the terminal of the iron tang set into a slot. Two lateral projections were probably animal heads but most of their surface detail has been lost. On one face there are slight traces of an engraved saltire. SF6714 and YORYM-A65069 are very similar in form and both are decorated with a saltire on both faces. Length 16.8mm. Width 22.7mm. Thickness 9.2mm. 16th century

Incomplete Roman copper alloy British flat discoidal plate brooch in exceptionally abraded condition, with all surfaces, almost all of the the edge, parts of the double pin lug, almost all of the catchplate, most of the spring, the pin and all enamel inlay (apart from dark material in the central round cell) missing. A barely discernible ring of reserved dots within a ring of zigzags show this to be of Mackreth 2011 2.c and very close to plate 105 no. 10635. Diameter 21mm. 2nd - 3rd century.

Incomplete copper alloy Roman lamp hook. Broken 34mm long tapering wire shaft at the top of which is a rectangular cross-sectioned flat-top suspension loop, pierced by an oval hole. Underneath this the shaft forms a moulded collar, 5mm below which, adjoining to one side, there is a projecting downward-pointing tapering hairpin pointed-hook. The wire shaft continues for another 15mm before terminating in an old break. Copper-alloy late Post-Medieval fob seal matrix. Pierced trefoil top fluting outwards in foliate openwork sides to an oval base containing an amber coloured intaglio matrix. The seal is engraved with a contemporary key motif. The body of the seal matrix is heavily encrusted with iron corrosion, presumably from the original attachment device, probably a chain. Complete cast biconical spindle whorl of medieval or post-medieval date. On one side, the whorl is decorated with 14 radial lines, which taper slightly from centre to rim. The other side is decorated with alternating sets of radial lines (three sets of two, one set of three) and groups of pellets (four sets of three, arranged in a triangular pattern). Post-medieval copper alloy mount. Flat, sub-circular plate with eight lobes around the perimeter, alternately large and small. There are two integral attachment spikes on the reverse, which are bent over and are still holding a fragment of (probably) leather. The leather is black and hard. The mount has a dark green patina which has flaked away in some areas, revealing a brown patina underneath. No surface decoration survives. Complete, post-medieval lead alloy button (1600-1700). The button is plano-convex in shape, with an integrally cast loop and a deep casting seam running across the centre of the back. The front has a pellet at its centre and a six-spoke wheel design with six teardrop-shaped recesses. The metal has a thick white coating, with traces of blue-green copper corrosion also visible. 23mm diameter, 9.3mm deep (including shank), weighs 10.32g. Buttons with similar design include LANCUM-A91346, SUR-46007E, YORYM-A01C38, SWYOR-40902B and FAKL-DE3C46.
