Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A complete Roman copper-alloy penannular twisted bracelet with bulbous terminals, dating to the period c.AD 320-450.

These are attached to two strands of flattened wire, which twist around each other to form a spiral. The wires are rectangular in shape, approximately 3.1mm in width, but the overall bracelet frame is sub-circular in cross section in its twisted form. There is a break approximately 60% of the way along the length of the bracelet frame, where the two…

Broad period: ROMAN
County: Dorset
Workflow stage: Published
An incomplete miniature developed T-shaped brooch dating to the Roman period, c. AD 100-150.
The wings and upper bow survive. The wings are truncated, cylindrical in shape, and with a markedly thick, almost bulging appearance. At their terminals the axial bar is just visible, but the area of the hinge is badly marked by corrosion. In this area may also be the base of a headloop, as the area is so damaged it may represent a break. The bow rises gently from the wings, and its point of attachment with the bar is emphasised by two diagonal lines which flank the central bow, creating …
