The entire piece has been retouched (short, abrupt, scaler) with inverse on the base and direct elsewhere. The right edge was a step-fracture. Object type: ARROWHEAD
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Leicestershire
Workflow stage: Published Find published
Neolithic flint oblique arrowhead. Made on a re-used secondary flake, very light greyish-blue opaque patina. The flake possesses unidirectional dorsal scars and is worked on the base (which is the distal end of the flake) by abrupt truncations to form a tang and barb. Small notch and thinning on the left. These workings are patinated very differently and the translucent nature of the flint can be seen, suggesting that this is a Mesolithic flake worked into an oblique arrowhead in the later Neolithic.
