A retouched flake of Mesolithic date, 7000 - 4000 BC. The flake is a mottled pale grey colour, and is sub-rectangular in shape. Two narrow flakes have been struck from the dorsal side, with a third flake removed towards the top of the flake. This has been further worked towards the distal end. The concave ventral face is smooth with a low bulb of percussion. There is semi-abrupt, sub-parallel, very short retouch along the left mesal to form a scraper or small saw-like implement. An incomplete cast copper-alloy rotary key of possible early-medieval date, c. AD 800-1100. The bow is flat, solid and sub-oval in form with an incomplete suspension loop at the top. The bow tapers to the stem, which is sub-rectangular in form, hexagonal in section and the tip protrudes slightly beyond the bit. The bit is sub- triangular in form and flares slightly to the end with a sub-rectangular section. A complete but abraded leaf-shaped arrowhead of probable Neolithic date (2900 - 2150 BC). The arrowhead is formed on a mid-grey coloured tertiary flint flake; both the dorsal and ventral faces are extensively retouched. The arrowhead is lentoid or pointed oval (an irregular pentagon) in plan and lentoid in cross section. The butt of the arrowhead and one long edge have been lost through abrasion in the ploughsoil. Incomplete front sheet plate from a medieval copper alloy composite tongue-shaped strap end with one rivet near the straight attachment edge. The outside edge is missing. Engraved decoration comprises a line of rocker-arm along both sides, two interlocking zig-zags forming (at least) two lozenges and a triangle at the edge and pecked dashes both within and outside these shapes. Medieval gilt copper alloy oval buckle frame with an offset, narrowed bar, in rather worn condition and slightly distorted. The convex outside edge is divided into three parts by four moulded grooves. The largest, central part is chamfered on the internal face, as are both sides. Pecking can be seen on the less worn one of the other parts and also at one of the bar. Length c.29mm. Width 31.5mm. 13th century.
