A Roman copper alloy bow brooch. A Colchester derivative with a sprung pin mechanism. The pin is missing. Flanking the head are the short, flat wings. At the rear of the wings is a slight hollow which would have accommodated the missing spring of the pin. At the head of the bow is the remnant of a lug or hook to house the missing chord of the spring. The D-sectioned bow is undecorated and tapers to a pointed foot. Date: Roman - c.
