It is in the form of a narrow blade, that is flat on one side and slightly curved on the other side, resulting in a slight thickening in the centre of the blade. It tapers from the centre to a sharp point at one end and to what appears to be a cutting edge at the other, though the absence of any means of securing a haft probably means that it is not an axe and may be part of a larger piece of farming equipment. The artefact now shows the surface corrosion normal on iron artefacts. It is 162mm long, 48.6mm wide and 13.5mm thick. It weighs 303g..
