An unidentified Iron artefact of unknown date. It is in the form of a narrow blade, that is flat on one side and slightly curved on the other side, resulting in a slight thickening in the centre of the blade. It tapers from the centre to a sharp point at one end and to what appears to be a cutting edge at the other, though the absence of any means of securing a haft probably means that it is not an axe and may be part of a larger piece of farming equipment. The artefact now shows the surface corrosion normal on iron artefacts. It is 162mm long, 48.6mm wide and 13.5mm thick. It weighs 303g..

A complete lead alloy weight, dating from an unknown period. The weight is 'barrel-shaped', and has an uneven aperture throughout its interior. There is a brown-grey patina on the surface. It is possible that this weight is early medieval in date as a quantity of material dating to this period has been found in the vicinity. However, Watling (2009, 249) notes that similar weights, probably used to nets used for fishing and bird netting, have been found on sites ranging from the Iron Age to medieval periods. The examples illustrated by Watling (ibid) have been rolled to form a cylin…

A fragment of a ceramic vessel of uncertain date. The wall sherd is an orange red fabric which is hard with a fine texture with sparse, very small gray grit and quartz inclusions. The outer face is decorated with an incuse horizontal line, above which are incuse marks which could be letters. They appear to read KEYC or KEAT but are not terribly clear, and may only be decoration. The sherd is 22.8mm long, 18.4mm wide and 3.5mm thick. 2.3g.
