piece of flint debitage of possible Mesolithic origin. This flint has been heavily re-corticated following its original production suggesting a long period in the ground post production. It has the form of an unfinished microburin but lacks any evidence of retouch. The distal end has been broken relatively recently to expose dark grey flint and this has removed any evidence there might have been of retouch. The ventral surface is deeply convex and the dorsal surface has four narrow flake removal scars. The proximal end has been roughly snapped, possibly at the time of production…

County: Hampshire

A secondary waste flake from flint working, 34.9mm in length and with trapezoidal shape. One side demonstrates a bulb of percussion and concentric ripple with a striking surface at the narrow end of the flake. The other side demonstrates flake removal scars from when the flake was part of a core. The wide end of the flake retains a portion of cortex. No retouch or worked edges are evident to suggest the flake being used as a finished tool. Mesolithic to Neolithic.

Flint debitage. Two small chips: The larger has broad and narrow parallel flakes struck from its dorsal side; the smaller has long narrow parallel flakes removed. Both were subsequently patinated by exposure to a calcareous environment. Suggested date: Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC Combined Weight: 2.93gms

Flint debitage. Four small flakes with broad flakes struck from their dorsal sides. One is a naturally formed pot lid flake; the largest has a near-flat ventral surface, and two have slightly concave ventral surfaces. Varying degrees of white or creamy patina indicates their exposure to a calcareous environment, probably to differing degrees. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC Combined Weight: 18.04gms

Flint, some with cortex spots, debitage. Eight flakes with multiple scars from the removal of long parallel flakes, frequently combined with concave ventral surfaces. A dense creamy patina suggests they have endured prolonged exposure to a calcareous environment after their deposition. Suggested date: Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC. Combined Weight: 34.78gms
