A complete copper alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is of similar form to hat or breeches buckles, being sub-rectangular in plan and wider on long edges. There is no spindle hole. The copper alloy pin is simply wrapped round the frame and moves freely. The buckle has a homemade feel.

An incomplete Medieval copper-alloy single-loop buckle (c. 1270-c. 1350). Meols type 12. The pin and roller are missing. Prior to distortion the frame would have been oval in plan with an off-set narrowed bar. The outer edge is expanded and recessed to accommodate a copper-alloy sheet roller on which the pin-tip would have rested. The bar is irregular in cross-section. An incomplete Post-Medieval double looped buckle, probably dating to c. AD 1600-1700. The buckle originally comprised of two symetrical rectangular loops, only one of which survives, separated by a central bar; the latter flanked by knops. The outer edge fo the frame expands to a point. The edge of the frame is bevelled. Dimensions: length 29.2mm; width 23.1mm; thickness 1.9mm; weight 3.00g. cf. similar examples on this database, such as DOR-70EFB9.

A complete Medieval cast copper alloy single loop oval buckle with off set and narrowed strap bar and decorated outer hoop, dating to c AD 1250 - 1400. There are three knops on the outer hoop, an oval shaped one, angled slightly outwards, at each end and a central rectangular one. The hoop here is rectangular in section. At either side the hoop tapers towards the strap bar, is slightly bevelled on the inside edge. There is a sub rectangular knop at each end of the strap bar, which is rectangular in section. An incomplete Medieval copper alloy buckle, probably dating to c. AD 1250-1400. The fragment comprises of the elaborated outer edge of what was probably a single-looped frame; this having a sub-rectangualr cross section and with the frame expanding into a pair of sub-circular lobes. The expanded section is decorated with incised cross-hatching, whilst the frame itself features an incised zig-zag, both on one face only. Bent and corroded medieval gilt copper alloy buckle: oval frame with an offset narrowed bar and a rounded outside edge with grooved pin rest; rectangular plate widening slightly where folded widthways and narrowed and shortened on the reverse, with a pin slot, copper alloy pin, frame recesses, two copper alloy rivets with domed heads and traces of a bordering line of engraved interrupted rocker arm on the face. Overall length (unbent) 33mm. Frame 14 x 16mm. Plate 19 x 11 - 13.5mm. Width of rear part of plate 9mm. 13th - 14th century.
