An incomplete and eroded cast copper alloy brooch of Roman date. The artefact consists of the wings and rear half of the bow, the axis bar, spring, pin and catch plate are lost. The wings are semi-cylindrical in plan with flat end caps that are not pierced. The head of the brooch bow is hump like - being a comma shape in profile. At the rear of the bow is a broken loop. The bow is D shaped in cross section and tapers to an eroded point. The surface of the brooch is worn, but in recessed places there are flecks of silver, and under the bow is a larger patch. A lead alloy spindle whorl or weight. Early to late medeival. The Spindle Whorl is biconical in cross section and decorated on both sides. On side is a double lined, five pointed star, or five double lined cheverons, both internal and external Interstices have a pellet. The other face is an eleven pointed star with a pellet on each of the external points. The spindle whorl is the very light brown colour of old lead. Dandy button, of probable late 18th century date. A circular flat solid copper alloy disc with an applied gilt pattern of five diagonal ropework lines interspersed with 5 rows of gilt rectangles; 3 central rows of six and 2 exterior rows of four. On the reverse there is a central stub where the copper wire loop has broken away. It is 34.0mm in diameter. Similar buttons are illustrated in Bailey on pages 60 - 64, and are dated to the 18th century.

A complete copper alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is of similar form to hat or breeches buckles, being sub-rectangular in plan and wider on long edges. There is no spindle hole. The copper alloy pin is simply wrapped round the frame and moves freely. The buckle has a homemade feel.
