A complete cast copper alloy medieval seal matrix, dating from the mid-13th-14th century. The matrix is shield-shaped in plan and flat slightly concave, except for the small neatly formed triangular suspension loop at the central point of the reverse. The matrix is pointed-oval and flat. The engraved central device depicts a gloved hand holding a bird of prey, which stands to the right (left, when printed), the jesses hanging below the glove. This is enclosed within a grooved border.
