An incomplete early Roman cast copper-alloy sprung Dolphin brooch without pin, dating to the 1st century AD. The head has a small curved loop on the end for the sprung pin, and the head is hollow on the inside with short semi-cylindrical wings. The bow is straight and decorated with a small ridge running halfway to the foot. The brooch is without a catchplate and the foot is missing. It has a brownish-red and green patina.

The bow is decorated with a waist moulding consisting of three transverse collars with three ridge and groove marks, the central collar being the largest. An incomplete early Roman cast copper-alloy bow brooch of Aesica type, dating to the 1st century AD. The brooch is missing part of the fantail, catchplate, pin and spring mechanism. The wings are short and are semi-circular to cover the now missing spring. The brooch consists of two parts - the front and back plate which are riveted together. Copper alloy buckle fragment. One half of a cast double looped buckle frame with a long knop projecting from its outer edge, and with a smaller knop at either end of the strap bar. A large conical flat-topped thimble with a plain basal zone bearing a pair of probably rouletted lines, and with probably machine-stamped circular pits which appear as if ascending the wall in diagonal rows from left to right above it. The top bears traces of concentric rings of smaller pits, now more worn, and stained by iron which may hint at a composite construction. Lightly dented. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1750-1800.

Lead ingot. Cast plano-convex ingot, made by pouring lead into a bowl-shaped hollow, probably in a sand bed or possibly in the base of a round-bottomed vessel; patinated. An ingot of this form was recorded from a stratified context dated to the 10th century at Beverley Lurk Lane, East Riding of Yorkshire (Foreman, in Armstrong et. al. 1991, page 162, fig. 119 no. 820), though the technique may have been often used when recycling scrap from a larger project. Suggested date: Unknown, Early Medieval to Medieval, 900-1500.
