A rim sherd of a wheel thrown Roman ceramic vessel, dating from the third to fourth century AD. The sherd is part of a shallow flanged dish. The fabric is a fine, slightly sandy clay, fully oxidised resulting in an orangey-red colour, characteristic of Oxford Colour Coated Ware. The grey core is very clearly visible at the broken ends of the sherd. The fabric is hard, but the surface has a soft and powdery feel. The Oxford region was producing this type of pottery between c. Incomplete medieval to post medieval foot from a cooking vessel such as a cauldron dating to the period c. AD 1200 - 1700. The foot is trapezoidal in cross-section with a central mid-rib flanked on either side by two shallow ribs. The top of the foot is slightly curved and forms the inside surface of the cauldron. Copper alloy probable vessel repair patch. A rectangular fragment of beaten sheet metal which is folded in half, here taken to have clasped a split vessel rim. A pierced fixing hole of diameter 2.3mm appears immediately adjacent to the long edge on one side. Stamped letters and numerals appear on the other: the number 1174 is rendered in heavily seriffed characters, with three or four partially visible letters above: the last is probably L.
