A post medieval cast copper alloy 'two piece' button of the Cinque Ports in Kent probably dating to c.1700-1850. Quite worn and corroded and missing the attachment loop on the rear. Obverse: a shield containing three lions passant with the rear of their bodies being the stern of ships. Crown above the shield and a scroll beneath with an inscription of CINQ PORTS. Reverse: plain and flat with the remains of an attachment loop. Diameter 26.7mm and weight 5.5g.
