A copper alloy Middle Bronze Age palstave of South Western type dating to the Taunton/Penard phase (c. 1400 - 1100 BC). The butt is slightly worn or damaged, resulting in one angled corner which meets the main butt end at a 45 degree angle. The butt is 22.17mm wide, and 5.9mm thick. From the butt end along the septum, the outer edges get gradually taller, reaching a total height of 27.4mm at their widest point, before joining the main body of the palstave blade. The septum itself measures 54.4m in length, and grows in thickness from 5.9mm at the butt to 9.1mm adjacent to the stop.…
