A hemispherical cast lead artefact, possibly a one ounce weight dating from the Medieval or early Post-Medieval period, about AD 1200 - 1800. It is in the shape of a beehive, with a flat base, straight sides and a rounded crown. There is a central perforation, circular at the top and rectangular at the bottom, of 2.3mm diameter. The artefact has a dark cream patina. It is 16.2mm high and17.3mm in diameter and 29.8 (1.05oz). A raised crowned fleur-de-lis design is present on the upper surface. The reverse is flat with the initials IH deeply engraved at the centre. The metal has a mid-white/brown patina and is worn. The object is cylindrical in shape with a circular aperture extending vertically through the centre. The upper surface and sides are flat and plain. The underside is also plain but has a shallow circumferential groove around the aperture. The object measures 26mm in diameter, 13mm in height and the hole is 6mm in diameter. It weighs 46.3 grams.
