An incomplete copper-alloy Roman brooch of the Colchester Derivative Hinged Type, dating to AD 43-120. The head is winged and has a cylindrical shape to house the copper-alloy axis-bar still in situ. There is an incomplete copper-alloy pin hinged to the axis and fitted in the central slot at the back of the head. The front face of the wings are decorated with a series of transverse flutes and ridges. The bow is D-shaped in cross-section and tapers towards the foot.
