A silver half-groat coin of Charles I (1625-49) mintmark: letter R in brackets, from the Tower mint under Parliament dating to c.1644-5. Obverse: crowned bust facing left with roman numerals II behind, all within an inner beaded circle. Inscription: (R) CAROLVS DG MB[F] ET {HIB RE]X Reverse: round shield within a beaded inner circle. Inscription: (R) IVSTITIA TH[RON]VM FIRMAT Diameter 16.4mm, thickness 0.5mm and weight 0.8g. (N.2258)
