Medieval gilt copper alloy bar-mount for the suspension of a harness pendant . There are two rivet holes, both with copper alloy rivet, and at one end a pair of pierced lugs containing the remains of the iron spindle which would have held the pendant. The other end is lobed, traces of tranverse mouldings. Normally such mounts are horizontal (e.g. N. Griffiths in Clark 1995, 69, fig. 52 nos. 73-4) or are cruciform (ibid. no. 75). This vertical mount is an interesting variant, see a similar example from Florden (NMS-DCFB77). Length 24mm. Width 7mm. 4.5mm thick at loops. 13th - 14th century.
