Lead spindle whorl. Cast flat-sided cylindrical whorl with a central moulded aperture of diameter 9.6mm; Walton Rogers form B. The aperture size and form may point to an Anglo-Scandinavian date. Possibly chipped, though the facetted appearance may be a deliberate feature. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 950-1100. Diameter: 24.8mm, Thickness: 5.6mm, Weight: 21.55gms

Incomplete lead spindle whorl of uncertain date, possibly Roman or early medieval (c. 43 - 1000 AD). The object is broadly oval in plan, with a slightly convex upper face, although the edges of the object are badly chipped and damaged. The broken edges are abraded, suggesting that they occurred in antiquity and this may have been the objects original form. There is a small circular perforation, positioned centrally.
