A copper alloy fragment from a Roman bracelet dating to the period c. AD 43 - 100. The bracelet is a wide cuff type and is decorated a pair of incised lines running down the centre and incised lines running parallel with and close to each edge. It is slightly convex on each face giving a pointed oval section. The inner surface is smooth and undecorated. It terminates in an old break at either end. It is shallowly curved in profile with a distinct bend in before the break, probably damage. The fragment measures 24.8mm in length, 10.9mm in width, is 2.0mm thick and weighs 3.04g. A…

A fragment of a Medieval copper-alloy annular brooch. The frame is of sheet metal and is flat in section. It has two large separate domed gilded collets, presumably decorative, which are flush with the surface of the reverse. The frame also has a circular hole, which probably housed a third collet. Both the frame and the collets show signs of gilding and where the gilding is missing, there is a pale green patina. Length 29.1mm. Width 13.7mm. Thickness (max) 6.9mm. Weight 3.94mm. A similar recorded example is SUR-C7A475.

An incomplete late Iron age to Early-Roman Langton Down bow type brooch , c.AD 25-60. Description: In plan, the brooch is almost T-shaped with a bow that is a flat rectangular in cross section and widens slightly towards the foot. It has a cylindrical-section head, formed by wide encompassing wing within in which the copper-alloy spring mechanism would have fitted, although it has come away it has been recovered by the finder. A heavily corroded whittle tang iron knife of likely Medieval date, c.1200-1500. Description: The knife has a blade with a diamond cross-section and slightly curved back which becomes more pronounced towards the point. The tang is clearly hammered and rectangular in cross-section. The blade appears to come to an intended point rather than a break so likely extends to its' full length, the tang is les certain and seems a bit short for the length of blade. Fragment of a copper alloy Roman Trumpet brooch, of Mackreth 2011, 1.2by. Plate 81, dating 100-240 AD. The fragment consists of the flared 'trumpet' head of the brooch and part of the bow. The hinge mechanism, pin and catchplate are missing. The head is decorated with scrollwork and is separated from the bow by an oval waist moulding above and below which is a horizontal groove.
