Probable Mesolithic to early Bronze Age (8000 - 1000BC) retouched flake: The flint flake is triangular and knapped from a matte mottled light grey flint or chert. The ventral surface does not have a bulb or percussion and conchoidal ripples are not visible. The dorsal surface has a convex surface with abrupt, short, re-touch occurring long one edge. Another edge has two small notches knapped from the dorsal surface. The flake measures 27.73mm long, 23.3mm wide, 7.52mm thick and weighs 3.68g. An incomplete copper-alloy mount or strap fitting of Medieval date, c.AD 1200-1500. The mount is an elongated lozenge shape with a worn break at the narrowest point. Traces of decoration can be seen on the surface, although they are very worn. The decoration resembles a fleur de lis in a beaded border, as depicted in Egan and Pritchard (1991), pp.198-199, number 1077, which comes from a later 13th to mid 14th century context. Late Saxon copper alloy D-shaped buckle frame, worn and corroded, the face with six dots (probably originally ring-and-dot) following the curve of the sides and sub-triangular outside edge of the frame. Notches form three lobes at the point, narrowed bar, pin missing. Length 21mm. Width 24mm. 2mm thick. Weighs 4.54g. The shape of the frame suggests the influence of the Ringerike style. It is rounded and both ends and tapers towards the distal end. There are areas of retouch on both long edges. This is minaly worked from the ventral face and is short, sub-parallel and low angle.
