A copper alloy strap end. The strap end had a long, Integral, split plate, the rear element of which is missing. The front plate is taperaing and decorated with three groups of transverse grooves and pairs of ridges. Between these are two raised, square panels with triangular notches at the sides. The solid terminal is tapering and decorated with diagonal grooves and ridges on both faces, creating an oval cross-sectioned writhen knop. An incomplete copper-alloy strap end of Early-Medieval date, c.AD 750 - 850. The strap end is of Thomas' Class B, Type 4 with zoomorphic terminal and multi-headed decoration. It is sub-triangular in shape with two relief-moulded confronting zoomorphic heads on the body as well as the zoomorphic terminal. Each animal head has semi-circular moulded eyes, a raised rectangular snout, and raised semi-circular ears. The strap end is cast in two pieces to allow the strap material to be fitted.
