An incomplete, late Medieval cast copper-alloy rectangular buckle dating between c. 1350-1400 Description: The single loop frame is square in form, with an enlarged front edge that has two incised transverse lines across it on either side of a deep groove which forms the pin notch. The narrowed sides are slightly in-curved and have two casting sprues on each side. The strap bar has a central raised internal projection that displays an old break at its tip. The pin is missing. Incomplete medieval spur buckle, oval frame with integral shouldered plate with perforation for missing pin, rivet-hole and further expansion before the narrowed bar which is broken where the terminal begins to expand. The plate has been folded widthways onto its face. Extant length (unbent) 54.5mm. Width of frame 16mm. Cf. broadly similar examples in Whitehead (2003), 195-9. 13th-14th century.

An incomplete medieval cast copper alloy annular buckle dating to c. late 15th to 16th Century. The buckle is in the form of a flower with five petals, each petal has incised transverse lines. Between each petal is a groove. The inside of the buckle frame and pin bar is bevelled. The pin bar is triangular in cross section, and missing the pin. The reverse is undecorated and flat. The buckle has a dark green patina, with an orange yellow residue in the recesses. It measures 28.16mm in length, 26.24mm in width, 2.86mm in thickness and weighs 5.99g. Late Saxon copper alloy D-shaped buckle frame, worn and corroded, the face with six dots (probably originally ring-and-dot) following the curve of the sides and sub-triangular outside edge of the frame. Notches form three lobes at the point, narrowed bar, pin missing. Length 21mm. Width 24mm. 2mm thick. Weighs 4.54g. The shape of the frame suggests the influence of the Ringerike style. Similar examples are known many sites in Norfolk, eg Corpusty (HER 33442 and 33872), Little Dunham (HER30277), Fring (HER 23001), Grimston (HER 30243) and Whissonsett (HER 31800).
