Discovery: metal detecting on cultivated land.
Description: A complete gold posy ring; circular in plan and D-shaped in cross-section. The ring bears an inscription starting on the outside of the band and completing on the inside of the band. The inscription starts with a probable maker's mark of a square with trefoil corners divided by a long cross. The inscription reads: 'RATHER DEATH / THEN FAVLS OF FAITH'. There is a flat border on either side of the band on the outer face and a raised dot on either side of the maker's mark.

A Post Medieval Scottish silver twenty pence of Charles I (AD 1625-1649). Third coinage (Spink 5582) dating to AD 1637-1642. Uncertain mint. Spink (2002: 84). Coins shows appears to have been folded in a V-shape across the obverse and flattened out again.
Overall dimensions: 16.02mm in diameter and 0.82g in weight.

A Post Medieval silver halfgroat of Charles I (AD 1625-1649). Provincial mint (North 2356), crown initial mark dating to AD 1648-9. Mint of Aberystwyth (Dovey Furnace). North (1991: 173). Legend has been double struck on the obverse.

A complete copper alloy coin weight used for checking the gold noble dating to the Post Medieval period (c. AD 1500-1700). The weight is square in plan and is very worn. The obverse possibly depicts a ship, whilst the reverse depicts a hand which is the mark for Antwerp. No other distinguishing features are apparent.
A similar more well preserved example of what the original may have looked like can be seen on the PAS database: SUR-FCFD14.
The overall dimensions are as follows: 15.34mm in length, 14.45mm in width, 1.58mm in thickness and 1.79g in wieght
