Copper alloy, bent, tapering fragment of one arm of a pair of Middle Saxon tweezers. An estimated 90% of the arm survives with an old break close to the looped return of the missing second arm. The wider unbroken end of the arm is nibbed inwards to act as a grip. The outer side is decorated with a total of twelve ring and dots along the length of the arm placed in an alternate sequence of a transverse pair followed by a single central. A complete pair of tweezers with different decoration is recorded as BH-FA4427 on this database. Circa AD600-800.

A cast copper alloy sub-rectangular buckle with a single loop. The strap bar is narrow and off-set with expanded, splayed feet at either terminal. The front edge is curved and features a collar and knop, with a groove separating each feature. A pin recess is visible, but the pin is missing. The metal is a mid greyish-green colour. This buckle dates to circa 1500-1650. The Buckle measures 36.42 mm in length, 24.00 mm in width, 8.46 mm thick and weighs 8.5 g Whitehead, p29.

A sherd from the rim of a cermaic vessel - the sherd has been heavily over fired or possibly burnt. In form it most resembles Roman Black burnishedwares although the fabric is very course and similar to that of medieval cooking vessels being mica-rich and with significant amounts of rounded quartz inclusions. The internal rim of vessel is raised with a distinct curved projection which is emphasised by a circumferential incised groove. The rim then project horizontally and tapers inward to for a triangular shaped projection.

An incomplete cast copper alloy pin from a buckle of late Medieval to Post Medieval date (1200 - 1500 AD). The pin is sub rectangular in plan, and rectangular in cross section. The shank of the pin tapers to a blunt end. The pin is slighlty wider and deeper at the head of the pin, where the loop that held the pin to the buckle bar has broken off, leaving two rough areas, one at the end of the pin and one underneath. An incomplete copper-alloy single looped sub-rectangular buckle frame of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1500-1650. The buckle frame has concave sides with a narrowed strap bar. The front is rounded and has a notched pin rest. On the front of the buckle plate a diagonal incised groove marks where the frame meets either end of the narrowed strap bar. The buckle is otherwise undecorated. The pin and plate are lost.
The metal is dark grey in colour. The buckle frame is 27.4mm in length, 24.0mm in width, 3.1mm thick, and weighs 5.3g.

An incomplete copper alloy double-looped buckle dating to the Post Medieval period (c. AD 1550-1650). The buckle has two symmetircal D-shaped loops with triangular knops at opposite outside edges representing acorns, where the pin would rest. The central bar is slightly recessed and shows wear due to the action of the pin. At either end of the bar are two further moulded acorn motifs. The pin is present though the tip appears to be missing. The face of the buckle is rounded and heavily worn, the reverse is concave.

An incomplete copper-alloy single looped sub-annular buckle frame of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1660-1720. The buckle frame is oval in shape and D-shaped in cross-section. The buckle is undecorated. On the underside of the buckle two drilled holes are visible in the centre of the inside of the two longest edges, opposite one another, where a separate spindle would have been inserted. An complete, copper alloy, Roman hinged dolphin brooch dating to c. AD 75-150. The wings are cylindrical and tubular showing a small amount of wear damage at both ends. The decorated bow is arched and is comma shaped in profile. The decoration on the bow consistes of five reels between four slots. A complete lead alloy token dating to the Post Medieval period (c. AD 1500-1800). The token is uniface depicting an anchor in relief within a raised border around the perimeter of the token on the obverse, while the reverse is blank. The anchor motif corresponds to Powell's type 5. The reverse has a linear gouge resulting in a slight outward bulge on the obverse. The upper edge is also chipped. The token has an uneven greyish white patina.

The pin is missing and the chain/head loop is fractured.
The rolled tubular wings, diameter 5mm, contain the remains of the axis bar. There is a slot in the centre of the tube to accomodate the pin, which is absent. The bow is comma shaped,with 4 longitudinal grooves. The bow narrows from 7mm at the head to 2mm at the foot.

An incomplete copper alloy roman dolphin hinged brooch dating from around AD55 - AD100. The brooch is plain, though badly corroded hiding any possible decorations. The brooch is missing its catch plate and pin, with both of its wings cut short, possibly damaged. The style of the broochs bow is arched, imitating a dolphin, hence the name. The condition of the brooch is corroded, with signs of damage, as previously stated.

A complete copper-alloy Roman Colchester derivative, hinged brooch complete with pin, circa AD 55 to AD 100. The top of the brooch consists of two cylindrical wings 4mm in diameter. The wings are smooth with no decoration. On the reverse of the wings in the centre is a notch where the hinge of the pin sits. The hinge pin extends below the notch towards the reverse of the bow. The pin extends down to meet the catch plate but sits just outside it. The pin matches the shape of the wings but then tapers to a cylinder, and narrows into a point which bends to the left at the end.

An incomplete pair of Roman copper alloy tweezers, of date AD 100 - 200. The tweezers consists of a long thin sheet of metal, rectangular in cross-section, folded round to form a circular loop in the middle. The arms decrease from 8.3mm wide at the loop to 2.7mm wide at the end. The tip of one arm is bent back on itself. Both arms are deformed with a curve in the middle of their length. A post-medieval ceramic stopper or bung. One end is a rough cube from which two lobes probably extended but only one remains.The two faces below the lobes are concave the other two flat. Looking down on to the cube the surface is concave in the centre. Beneath the cube the object is stepped in then tapers in a cone shape to a point at the end farthest from the cube. Half way along the cone is a wider band which goes around the cone. The object appears to be made of clay and is terracotta in colour. Length 40.5mm. Width without lobes 19mm.

A complete copper alloy seal matrix dating to the Medieval period (c. AD 1300-1400). The object consists of a diamond-shaped suspension loop on top of a hexagonal-sectioned handle. The handle flares out to form the circular printing face. The print depicts a dog-like creature lying passant. The legend starts from 10 o'clock when printed and reads *PRIVE SV. ('I am private').

A copper-alloy Roman bell-shaped stud, dating to the period AD 43-410. It consists of a sub-rectangular shaft, which has a rectangular cross-section and tapers towards a rounded end; this end is pierced with a circular hole, which has old breaks in the edges. The opposite end of the shaft flares in a bell-shaped element; the latter has a slightly concave face. At the bottom of the bell-shaped element there is a protruding knob; it is right in the centre of the slightly concave bottom face. The surfaces are very worn and the rounded end of the shaft is slightly bent.
