Roman copper alloy bow brooch, Hod Hill type, with tinned surface. The bow has an upper portion which widens out to 8.5mm before narrowing to a 3mm collar. The lower portion of the bow is slightly larger widening to 13mm and narrows to 2mm with a reel and then 4 ridges ending in a knop at the foot which formed the front of the catchplate, a little of which remains. The pin is missing. Circa 1st century AD.

A left hand from a limestone statue, possibly of Roman date. The hand with thumb uppermost is grasping a cylinder possibly a scroll..The hand has 4 slender fingers. The cylinder has a shallow depression at the end being held uppermost. It has been broken off at the point where the wrist would be. The scroll holds symbolic meanings in the Christian religion related to knowledge. Length from end to end of the scroll 45mm. Width from knuckle to fingertips 31 mm. Weight 79.12g.

An complete, copper alloy, Roman hinged dolphin brooch dating to c. AD 75-150. The wings are cylindrical and tubular showing a small amount of wear damage at both ends. The decorated bow is arched and is comma shaped in profile. The decoration on the bow consistes of five reels between four slots. The bow tapers toward the foot and the lowermost reel shows evidence of a tiny amount of degraged enamelling of a dark green colour. The brooch shows evidence of traces of silvering. A Roman copper alloy flat-bladed nail-cleaner with varying decoration (Group), dating from AD 250-410. The nail cleaner consists of three parts, at the top is a circular attachment loop of length 8.3mm and width 9.7mm with a central hole of diameter 3.3mm. An incomplete Roman copper-alloy T-shaped, Bow brooch circa AD 50-150. The pin is missing and the chain/head loop is fractured. The rolled tubular wings, diameter 5mm, contain the remains of the axis bar. There is a slot in the centre of the tube to accomodate the pin, which is absent. An incomplete copper alloy roman dolphin hinged brooch dating from around AD55 - AD100. The brooch is plain, though badly corroded hiding any possible decorations. The brooch is missing its catch plate and pin, with both of its wings cut short, possibly damaged. The style of the broochs bow is arched, imitating a dolphin, hence the name. The condition of the brooch is corroded, with signs of damage, as previously stated.

A complete copper-alloy Roman Colchester derivative, hinged brooch complete with pin, circa AD 55 to AD 100. The top of the brooch consists of two cylindrical wings 4mm in diameter. The wings are smooth with no decoration. On the reverse of the wings in the centre is a notch where the hinge of the pin sits. The hinge pin extends below the notch towards the reverse of the bow. The pin extends down to meet the catch plate but sits just outside it. A cast conical or beehive-shaped thimble with a plain basal zone with hand stamped circular pits.The thimble walls are thick. The base has three splits in it. The height of the thimble is 21.19mm and 21.93 diameter the weight is 7.49grms. The hand- stamped circular pits arranged in an apparently left hand spiral ascending the wall. The top bears a spiral of smaller pits.

An incomplete pair of Roman copper alloy tweezers, of date AD 100 - 200. The tweezers consists of a long thin sheet of metal, rectangular in cross-section, folded round to form a circular loop in the middle. The arms decrease from 8.3mm wide at the loop to 2.7mm wide at the end. The tip of one arm is bent back on itself. Both arms are deformed with a curve in the middle of their length. A post-medieval ceramic stopper or bung. One end is a rough cube from which two lobes probably extended but only one remains.The two faces below the lobes are concave the other two flat. Looking down on to the cube the surface is concave in the centre. Beneath the cube the object is stepped in then tapers in a cone shape to a point at the end farthest from the cube. Half way along the cone is a wider band which goes around the cone. The object appears to be made of clay and is terracotta in colour. Length 40.5mm. Width without lobes 19mm.

A complete copper alloy roman nummus dating from the reign of Emperor Valentinian I (AD364-78), of the House of Valentinian. Obverse: bust right of emperor with pearl diademed, draped and wearing currassier. Inscription: VALENTIANVS. Reverse: Emperor advancing right dragging captive behind, carring standard, probably inscribed with a Chi-Rho (hidden by corrosion), OF/II in field. Inscription: GLORIA ROMANORVM (Glory of the Romans). The condition of the coin is fine, though as mentioned, does contain some areas of corrosion. Mint mark: CON (Arles) or (Arelatum/Constantina).

A complete Roman copper-alloy pair of tweezers of date, c.AD 100-200. The tweezers are comprised of a single piece of metal folded in half to create two parallel plates with a loop for attachment at the apex. Both plates are rectangular in plan and section with slight curves towards the tweezing ends. The tweezers are undecorated. The metal has a green patina.The tweezers were found at the same location as the Chatelaine brooch, PUBLIC-9E4646. The tweezers are 64.2mm long, 4.8mm wide, 1.1mm thick and weighs 5.0g.
