A complete, cast, copper-alloy buckle frame of Medieval to post Medieval date (c1200-c1600). The buckle is a single loop and D shaped, with the rear bar slightly reduced in length. The frame is a narrow oval in cross section, deeper than it is wide. The sides of the bar taper in depth from front to rear, with the rear bar being 3.7mm thick and the outer edge 4.5mm thick. The frame is 19mm long by 31mm wide. Weight 5.3g.

An copper alloy double looped buckle dating to c.1350-1650. The frame is made up of two oval loops that have a plano-convex section and chamfered inside edges. The centre bar is narrowed from the frame, it has a trapezoidal section. The pin is wrapped around the central bar and tapers to a blunt point, it has a trapezoidal section. An incomplete copper alloy buckle frame of the post-Medieval period, c. AD 1560-1650. The frame is a corroded, double-oval with a lozengiform projection in the centre of the surviving outside edge, flanked by six oval bosses. A narrowed central bar projects beyond frame on both sides as a lozenge. The frame is cracked at the upper bar projection which appears to be an old break. The pin is missing. A complete cast copper-alloy post-Medieval shoe or knee buckle dating to the period AD c.1660-c.1720. The frame is sub-rectangular in plan, demonstrating moulded decoration around the strap-bar and outer/rear edges. The buckle has two opposing knops on either side of the frame with moulded transverse lines and grooves. Preserved in good condition, the object measures 23.85mm long, 16.31mm wide and weighs 3.7g. A similar example can be seen in Whitehead, (2003), p. 98, no.632 and on the database at LANCUM-CAF6D9 and DENO-1BF10A

A fragment of a post-Medieval copper-alloy double-looped buckle (c. 1600-c. 1720). This fragment is the outside edge and corners of one of the loops. It is convex at the front and flat at the rear. The outside edge is expanded and bulbous on the upper face. The breaks are old and traces of a white metal coating can be seen at the front. Length: 18.0mm; width: 38.8mm; thickness: 4.0mm. An incomplete copper alloy single looped D shaped buckle dating to the Early Medieval to Medieval period, c.AD c.1000-1200. The buckle has a narrow off-set strap bar. The loop is widest in the centre and narrows towards the strap bar. There is no evidence of a pin or a pin recess. The loop has two projecting terminals which extend beyond the strap bar. These are decorated with zoomorphic heads with ridged snouts biting the bar. An incomplete copper-alloy Medieval composite buckle with forked spacer, dating to AD 1350-1450. The buckle frame is oval and its edges are bevelled. The outside edge has a pointed knob in its middle. The bar is cast in one with the forked spacer and bears a narrow constriction for the missing pin.
