Fragment of a small copper alloy Roman Hod Hill brooch. Sub-rectangular wings one of which is less complete. Slot between the wings to house the now missing pin. The roll on the wings to house the axis bar is also missing. The tapering bow, along with the rest of the fragment, has considerable edge erosion and it is not clear how much material has been lost. The centre of the bow has a central hollow with concave flutes on either side. Some evidence of whitemetal coating survives. Circa AD70-120. Extant length 20mm; extant width; 10mm.

A near complete cast copper alloy bow and fantail brooch. The brooch has rectangular wings with a circular casing behind it containing an axis bar. The pin is missing. There is an incomplete suspension loop at the top. The bow is short, with a damaged, bent arch leading into a flat triangular fantail which is decorated with a triskele motif in reserve metal set against a background which would have contained enamel. An incomplete copper-alloy Roman brooch of the Colchester Derivative rear hook Type, with fantail foot, dating to AD 43-70. The head of the brooch is semi-circular in cross-section and has a fragment of the rear facing hook protruding from its top edge. The bow is flat and flares towards the foot. On the front face, where the bow meets the head, there are two transverse ridges. The back face of the fantail foot has an incomplete sub-triangular catch plate. A copper alloy Roman hinged dolphin brooch. The wings are cylindrical and both show signs of decoration with a ribbed line running the length of the wings The bow shape has a dolphin profile hence its name. The other end of the bow contains a catch plate for the pin, which is missing. The brooch is in a fair condition and has a dark brown patina. The bow of the brooch measures 46mm long, the wings measure 40mm across. The brooch weighs 7.67 grammes.

The object face, that is convex side, is composed of a sub-circular plate which appears to have had regularly spaced lobes but only the lobes on one half of the circle remain. A cast, copper alloy, Roman hinged dolphin brooch, dating from c75 - 100 AD. Its wings are cylindrical and contain a bar for the hinged pin, which is still operative. However, the brooch is incomplete, in that the tip of the pin and the catch plate are missing. The bow shape has a dolphin profile, hence its name and there is a slight ridge running along its outside curve.
