An incomplete Anglo Scandinavian zoomorphic (1000-1100) probable strap-end with an assymetrical openwork plate (very worn breaks) and extending away from it a moulded head D-shaped in cross-section (again with worn breaks at its snout).
The plate survives as a C-shape 3.2mm thick at the breaks and formed of moulded interlace. Two tendril terminals are apparent, parallel to each other and diagonally arranged, to one side of the nack and extending along it. A further tendril end teminates in a curlicue at the centre. An incomplete copper alloy disc-headed pin from the Early Medieval period (AD850-900).
The object consists of a sub-discoidal head which tapers down to the short remains of the shaft.The face of the disc is decorated with a central ring and dot motif surrounded by six slightly irregularly spaced motifs of the same size and shape.There are some light coloured scuff marks around the face and edge of the disc;these appear to be recent.The rear face has a scratch line from the centre to 2 o'clock and several small scuff marks on the surface of a recent nature.
