A very worn and heavily clipped silver threepence of Elizabeth I (1558-1603), dated 1571 (North 1998). Ref: North 1991: 135.
The coin in clipped to a small size but the inner circle (measureable on the reverse) is 14.5mm suggesting the coin is a threepence, as does the date of 1571.
Obverse and obverse legend are completely worn and illegible but would have shown a crowned bust left, rose behind - [ELIZABETH D G ANG FR ET HI REGINA].
Reverse is worn but shows an unclear royal shield, [15]71 above. Reverse legend is mostly illegible but reads [P]OSV[I/ DEV. AD/IVTORE/M.MEV]. …

A complete copper-alloy strap distributor, bent to one side at one end (c. 10th-11th century). It is formed of two opposing strap loops, broadly triangular, with external recessed strap bars, which are connected by a central moulded animal head. The animal is viewed en face and is cat like, with small, slightly pointed ears, and two converging curved ridges which form both the eyebrows and nose; they do not meet. In profile the animal head can be seen to have gaping jaws. Emerging from the jaws, mirrored behind each ear, is an outcurving tendril. These have bevelled sides. On the …

TREASURE CASE 2018 T913. Description: A near-complete cast silver gilt dress fastener of early post-medieval (Tudor) date. The fastener is of small size, featuring a central raised boss in the form of a 'Tudor rose', with a trapezoidal loop above the rose for fastening to an item of dress. Below the rose, extending from the reverse of the object, is an incomplete silver hook which has been soldered on to the back plate of the fastener. The very tip of the hook is broken and missing. Description: A complete but squashed silver finger ring dating to the 12th century AD.
The ring would have originally been a circular hoop made of a sub-rectangular strip of silver metal with a rectangular cross section, although it has been squashed into a sub-rectangular strip. The width of the hoop is not regular. At its widest point, which was possibly the ring’s flat bezel, it is c.0.9mm wide. It then narrows from this to a minimum width of c.0.4mm. Cast copper alloy figurine of a fish of probable Roman date. The fish is carefully executed with clearly marked features: the eyes are large, represented by a 3.2mm diameter x 1.4mm deep hole in which there is a smaller central cavity. Around the eyes are annular recesses which appear to the been divided by radial ribs. It is possible that the eyes were decorated with enamel inlay. Behind the eye are curved double grooves defining a rib marking the gill cover. Further lines in front of the eyes sweep around to converge on the top of the head. Modern, cast copper alloy pipe tamper in the form of a human leg. A shoe is suggested on the foot, this is marked by a defined heel and terminates at ankle level. A further transition is marked around the calf which could mark the top of a stocking. The knee is bent at 90 degrees and the leg terminates at mid thigh, the terminaltion being marked with with a pattern of crossing, incised lines. Length 45.0mm, Width 33.2mm, Diameter (of termination) 9.5mm, Mass 17.26g.

Roman, copper alloy brooch of 'Polden Hill' type, first century AD. Traces of silvering on surfaces, bow truncated but bore two longitudianal grooves. The underside of the wings is hollow to accomodate a coiled spring secured by an axial pin held in perforated plates at the ends of the wings. Each of the wings bears two transverse mouldings flanked by narrow grooves and a deeper, wide groove. The mouldings bear incised, transverse lines. Length 16.0mm, Width 23.8mm, Height 8.0mm, Mass 3.79g.

Plain, tapering bow with a pronounced 'hump' at the head, The wings are undecorated with a hollowed underside to accomodate a coiled spring which is secured by an iron axial pin held in perforated plates at the ends of the wings.
