An incomplete lead-alloy papal bulla of Pope Alexander IV dating to the medieval period. Pope Alexander IV reigned from 12 December 1254 to his death in 1261. Approximately one third of the bulla has been lost to a worn break, possibly as a result of breaking the seal. The obverse of the bulla is stamped with the faces of saints Peter and Paul within a border of raised pellets. A cast lead artefact,probably a weight, of Medieval to Modern date, AD 1200 - 1900. It is in the form of a short squat bell, having a circular base and curved concave sides rising to a flat top. On the top is an integrally cast, rectangular suspension loop, pierced with a small, circular perforation. The weight has a patchy white patina. It is 19.1mm high, the diameter of the base is 28.1mm and it weighs 50.63g (1.78oz), so was probably intended as a two ounce weight. Similar weights are recorded on the database: compare for example records BERK-85F15B.

There is an eruption on one side of the ball, suggesting that a small bubble may have formed during casting. The ball has a light grey patina. It is 13mm in diameter (including casting sprue) and weighs 8.6g, suggesting that it was intended for use in a pistol. Incomplete copepr alloy object, probably part of a Roman bracelet, possibly part of a Trumpet brooch. The remaining section is sub-oval in cross section with a shallowly convex back and convex front and slightly curved in profile. At one end is an old, irregular break. At the other the piece thins abruptly to a flat plate broadly of the same width or slightly wider than the main section, stepped down from the thickness of the main section at the front and back. Eardisland History and Heritage Group Eardisland Excavation 2000-2010 Site Summary: Finds were made during the excavation of a mound in the grounds adjacent to the dwelling: Burton Court Eardisland. The trench in which the majority of artefacts were found measured 5 metres by 3 metres.
