One spherical lead alloy shot / ball of probable post medieval or early modern date (1600-1800 AD). Due to the size and weight of the ball it is most likely to be from a pistol. The shot is sub spherical in shape with an uneven surface. It has clear casting seams and trimmed casting sprues from the mould. There is no evidence of the shot having been fired. It is a mid-grey colour with abraded powdery patinated surface. A Post Medieval lead alloy cloth or bag seal which has been opened out. There are three distinct stamped designs: An Irish harp, crowned, flanked by a pair of five-petaled flowers all set within in a diamond or lozenge comprising a plain line and outer cabled border. A monogram of TG flanked by a pair of quatrefoils within a circular cabled border surrounded by an indecipherable legend with a number of five petalled flowers as initial marks, possibly ***[...]P.P.Y. A circle containing the letters which may be S L(or E) A / P O H / ED.

The seal is circular in plan with a rectangular cross section and is comprised of a single disc of metal which is perforated by a hole running across its diameter. The hole would have been for wire or textile ligatures which were used to secure a bag. A complete lead-alloy bag seal of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1750 - 1900. The seal is roughly tear drop shaped with a rectangular cross section. The front is decorated with a stamped design of the crowned Dutch shield bearing the rampant lion of Holland framed within a border of raised pellets. The reverse is stamped with "R&A" which stands for Regten en Accynsen (Customs and Excise) over the control number "456". The metal has a light brown patina and is in fair condition. The seal is 22.3mm long, 17.8mm wide, 4.3mm thick and weighs 9.5g.
