A fragment of the front plate of a post-medieval copper alloy book clasp, probably dating to c. 1500-1650. The fragment is rectangular in plan, with one end (the strap attachment end) which is flared and has four triangular indentations. One of the tips of this flared edge is missing due to an old break. The opposite end of the plate (the hook end) is missing. The break here is worn, but it is straight and square.
