Description: A complete Late Bronze Age gold penannular ring (c.1150 – 800 cal BC). The ring is made of gold bar that is circular in cross-section. The form from the base to the tip comprises a conical lower collar, a flattened biconical reel, a large flattened sphere, a large double disc at the midpoint (diameter 9.2mm), a waisted reel, a smaller waisted reel and a conical or pointed acorn-shaped tip. The shaft is broken off at the base of the head. There is damage to the upper section in the form of a pronounced cut which has bent and nearly severed the tip of the pin head. On its outer edge there are two shallow, angled knops flanking three transverse grooves; the example can be classified as being of Meols type 8. The bar is narrowed, recessed and offset. The pin is missing; the central groove on the outer edge would have acted as a pin rest. The buckle measures 14.02 mm in length, 15.20 mm in width and weighs 0.87 g.
