One spherical lead alloy shot / ball of probable post medieval or early modern date (1600-1800 AD). Due to the size and weight of the ball it is most likely to be from a pistol. The shot is sub spherical in shape with an uneven surface. It has clear casting seams and trimmed casting sprues from the mould. There is no evidence of the shot having been fired. A fragment of a copper-alloy Roman brooch of the Headstud Type, dating to AD 75-250. It is the head and the upper part of the bow of the brooch. The head consists of two cylindrical wings, which still house the copper-alloy bar; the central slot on the back face retains a fragment of the hinged pin-loop. The top of the head has fragments of the chain loop. The bow has a sub-rectangular cross-section and bears a stud on the front face; the stud is heavily worn. A complete cast copper-alloy Socketed Hammer, of late Bronze Age date (1000-800BC). The object is rectangular in cross-section, and a tapering sub-rectangular in plan. The sides of the object are slightly bevelled. The hammer in section waisted, expanding into a flared undecorated collar at the socketed end. The socket mouth is sub-rectangular. The hammer tapers sharply from the socket toward the mid-point, before again flaring more gently toward the hammer face. The striking face of the hammer shows evidence of use-wear. An incomplete copper-alloy enamelled Seal Box Roman date (AD 100-300). The object is the lid from a seal box, the base is missing. The object is composed of a flat plate, teardrop (piriform, leaf shaped) in shape with a rounded end towards the hinge narrowing down to a point at the terminal. The hinge element is an integral oval lug which would have formed a loop. The loop has been broken resulting in the appearance of a bifurcated lug. The lug is placed transversely to the main plate, extending from the centre of the rounded end and level with the front but projecting at the back.…

An incomplete copper-alloy Roman brooch of the Colchester Derivative Hinged Type, dating to AD 43-120. The head is very damaged and incomplete having only one wing left, which is cylindrical and still houses a fragment of the copper-alloy pin bar. The bow has a D-shaped cross-section and tapers towards the foot. The front face of the upper bow has a series of radial grooves starting where the head meets the bow and run down for 12.15 mm; below that the surface is pitted and worn.
