An incomplete copper alloy plate brooch of Roman date (AD 100-200). The object is an Umbonate or Domed boss type, Mackreth 2011, British type 6.e (see plate 109, no.11166). The object is composed of a lipped sub-circular border which steps up to a steeply domed plate with a central boss/knop. The upper edge of the plate retains a partial projecting rounded upper lobe to the back of which are twin lugs which would have had an axis bar and pin would have been accommodated. A complete copper alloy Pin of Roman date (AD 43-410). The object is composed of a square head with an integral sub-circular shaft which is waisted below the head. The shaft expands below the waisted portion and tapers in towards the pointed tip.
There is no indication of decoration.

The metal has a mid-green pitted patina.

An incomplete copper-alloy Roman brooch of the Colchester Derivative Hinged Type, dating to AD 43-120. The head is very damaged and incomplete having only one wing left, which is cylindrical and still houses a fragment of the copper-alloy pin bar. The bow has a D-shaped cross-section and tapers towards the foot. The front face of the upper bow has a series of radial grooves starting where the head meets the bow and run down for 12.15 mm; below that the surface is pitted and worn. The back face of the foot bears a fragment of the catch plate.

A complete medieval cast copper-alloy strap-slide (strap-fitting). The frame is oval to D-shaped, with an integral circular sectioned rivet projecting outwards 2.2mm from the centre of the base, now bent slightly to one side. The sides of the frame are rectangular in cross section, becoming slightly D-shaped on the outer edge, probably due to wear.
The frame is 14.6 mm wide, 12.2 mm long including the rivet and 2.4 mm thick, it weighs 0.87 g. There are extensive file marks on all faces.

The object is composed of a flat plate, teardrop (piriform, leaf shaped) in shape with a rounded end towards the hinge narrowing down to a point at the terminal. The hinge element is an integral oval lug which would have formed a loop. The loop has been broken resulting in the appearance of a bifurcated lug. An Early Bronze Age III - Middle Bronze Age I (1800-1500 BC) flanged axe head or axe shaped ingot, possibly water rolled, and unusual in its crudeness. Its uneven shape makes accurate measurement and labelling of areas difficult, but the thickest section is approximately 14mm at its widest pont, and the blade tip is an uneven 2-4 mm in fluctuation. The surface is pitted and appears to have delaminated; areas show different levels and kinds of corrosion, varying from predictable greens to a blueish tinge.

A copper-alloy medieval single-looped buckle of composite type with forked spacer dating to c. 1350 - 1450. The frame is oval, rounded, lipped (with a protruding knop), with a forked spacer. The sheet plates and pin are missing. The front of the frame is bevelled externally; the reverse is flat and covered in diagonal file marks. The prongs of the spacer are rebated after a short length beyond the frame; they narrow along their length, with a significant stepped narrowing at around halfway. The buckle has a green patina.

A complete copper alloy toggle of Iron Age to Early-Roman date (200 BC - AD 100). The object is a bar-shaped toggle. The toggle has a swollen central section, oval in plan and section with flat top and bottom sides due to rectangular hole passing through the centre from top to bottom. The central section. The hole shows signs of use wear with one side being slightly distorted. To either side of the central section are circular sectioned projections ending in flattened knops. The projections are waisted (narrowed).

A complete cast copper-alloy Socketed Hammer, of late Bronze Age date (1000-800BC). The object is rectangular in cross-section, and a tapering sub-rectangular in plan. The sides of the object are slightly bevelled. The hammer in section waisted, expanding into a flared undecorated collar at the socketed end. The socket mouth is sub-rectangular. The hammer tapers sharply from the socket toward the mid-point, before again flaring more gently toward the hammer face. The striking face of the hammer shows evidence of use-wear.

The buckle measures 28.50 mm in length, 24.26 mm in width and weighs 6.49 g.

An incomplete copper-alloy Roman brooch of the Colchester Derivative Hinged Type, dating to AD 43-120. It has two sub-cylindrical wings, which are slightly open along the longitudinal median line on the back face; they house a copper-alloy bar and there is a slot on the back for the missing pin. The bow is slightly arched and tapers towards the break. The front face of the bow has a longitudinal median ridge, which stops at 9.93 mm from the break; in this latter part there is a series of worn transversal ribs. Bag 1 Photo a - Carbine Ball
One lead alloy shot / ball, of probable post medieval or early modern date (1600-1800 AD). From a small musket or more likely carbine - the shot is sub spherical in shape with an even surface. The ball exhibits casting seams and trimmed casting sprues. The colour of the ball varies from a slight grey colour to a mid cream white. Similar shot has been dated to the later post medieval period however the date range should extend into the early modern period as similar projectiles were used in firearms throughout this period. A slightly corroded fragment from a late early-medieval/Anglo-Scandinavian cast copper-alloy cheekpiece (c. 11th century AD). The fragment is formed of a curved Ringerike style animal head and neck in profile, broken through the neck. The cheekpiece is flat and the neck is long and the head is set at roughly right angles to it. On the outer edge of the curve is a recessed protrusion, broadly semicircular with a small off-central knop and a second raised knop towards its back (at the neck end). A copper-alloy medieval single-looped trapezoidal buckle dating to the period c. 1350-1500. The bar is narrowed and the pin is complete. The front of the buckle appears to be folded back over on itself at the outer edge, double thickness, with incurved corners, which is an appearance intended when cast. The front part has a series of six diagonal grooves, between which sits the pin, and a wavy front edge. The sides and bar are thinned by comparison. The object has a green patina.
