A complete Post Medieval to Modern copper alloy three part button from a prison warders uniform dating from AD 1860-1902. This button is domed at the front and flat at the back. The pressed design at the front consists of a central royal crown with CONVICT DEPARTMENT around. The reverse of the button has the uniform outfitters name E MILNS & Co LONDON. A complete copper alloy Pin of Roman date (AD 43-410). The object is composed of a square head with an integral sub-circular shaft which is waisted below the head. The shaft expands below the waisted portion and tapers in towards the pointed tip. There is no indication of decoration. Length: 62.52mm, Width: 5.58mm, Thickness: 5.56mm, Thickness (head): 8.08mm, Weight: 8.2g. The metal has a mid-green pitted patina. A fragment of a large copper alloy crotal bell, consisting of one half of the lower hemispherical portion from one edge of the sound holes up to and including the midrib. An incomplete copper-alloy buckle of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1720 - 1790. Only a loop chape remains. The chape is trapezoidal with two tubular hinges for the spindle and two internal spikes to the longer end. The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. The chape is 46.6mm long, 31.8mm wide, 2.2mm thick and weighs 7.5g. A similar chape is illustrated in Whitehead, p.103, no.VIII. Bag 17 Photo i - Musket Ball One lead alloy musket shot / ball of post medieval 1600-1800 date. The shot is sub-spherical in shape with a relatively even surface. The shot has a casting seam and spurs from the mould removed. It is a light grey colour with a relatively thick surface patina. Similar shot have been dated to the later post medieval period however the date range should extend into the early modern period as similar projectiles were used in firearms throughout this period.
