An incomplete Roman copper alloy developed T-shaped brooch, probably dating to c. AD 75-150. The surviving section comprises of the upper bow and head, the lower bow and majority of the pin being lost. At the head of the brooch the cylindrical wings survive to a width of 30.4mm; c. 4.0mm in diameter. These have a central rectangualr slot cut into the reverse, and hold a copper alloy axis bar and incomplete pin in situ. Approximately one third of the bulla has been lost to a worn break, possibly as a result of breaking the seal. A cast lead artefact,probably a weight, of Medieval to Modern date, AD 1200 - 1900. It is in the form of a short squat bell, having a circular base and curved concave sides rising to a flat top. On the top is an integrally cast, rectangular suspension loop, pierced with a small, circular perforation. The weight has a patchy white patina. It is 19.1mm high, the diameter of the base is 28.1mm and it weighs 50.63g (1.78oz), so was probably intended as a two ounce weight. Similar weights are recorded on the database: compare for example records BERK-85F15B.
