A ceramic vessel of probable Post Medieval date, about AD 1500 - 1800. Only half of the base of the vessel survives. The fabric is very hard and vitrified, probably a stoneware, with a fine texture and frequent small black inclusions in the buff coloured matrix. The diameter of the base would have been about 90mm. The walls are broken just after they start to flare outwards. The inside of the vessel contains some vitrified material, perhaps glaze or glass which is crazed and angular. An engraved and curved copper alloy fragment, 36.2mm in length. One side is engraved with the letters oWo within a semicircular border, away from which a number of lines radiate. The design is orientated to a linear border around the rim or edge of the fragment. The reverse is undecorated and the profile, although distorted and bent, demonstrates a curve suggesting a piece of a vessel such as a skillet. Post Medieval.
