A complete copper alloy 'Venus penny' Jetton dating from AD 1490-1550. Mitchiner (1988:269 no. 835-837) Mitchiner (1988:265) writes "The 'Venus pennies' were a popular series of jettons, or reckoning counters, that were made for the merchants of Antwerp during a period when this city was the flourishing principal commercial centre of the land, and were circulated amongst the merchant classes during the first half of the sixteenth century.

An incomplete Medieval copper-alloy English jetton of Edward I, Mernick Class 1a3 reverse 6, dating to AD1279-1282. (Mitchiner 1988:107, refs: 171)
Obverse: Shield bearing 3 lions passant, accosted by lis: border, strokes and rosettes.
Reverse: Triple stranded cross fleury, with a star or cresent in each angle: border, ornament in each segment.
Dimensions: diameter: 25.93mm; weight: 0.71g.
