Five fragments of a gilded silver sword pommel, an addendum to 2017T954 (NMS-1E4D05). The fragments (nos. 1 to 5) comprise two fragments of openwork arching arms (nos. 1-2) and three fragments from the body of the fitting (nos. 3-5). None of the fragments join each other, but may join the rest of the artefact recorded at NMS-1E4D05 (2017T954); further research is ongoing at Norwich Castle Museum, which has acquired all the fragments.

Description: Incomplete post-medieval silver spoon handle of seal top type. From the top down it exhibits a plain disc top, short fluted baluster, constriction, tapering fluted baluster, two plain narrow mouldings and a short length of hexagonal-sectioned stem terminating in an old break.
Discussion: A number of similar examples have been reported as Treasure and have been recorded on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database, including NMS-6D0C5B (2016 T424). Similar inscribed examples with dates tend to cluster in the early 17th century, but undecorated examples such as this one…

Description: Incomplete post-medieval gilded silver pin. It has a globular head, now squashed to a flattish shape and therefore originally hollow. There is a pellet at the apex, and the head is divided into two hemispheres by two circumferential rows of filigree (twisted) wire around the widest point. Each hemisphere is decorated with a series of oval loops of filigree (from the photograph, they appear to be drop-shaped with the ends of the wires not perhaps meeting). The cylindrical shaft projects from the bottom, terminating in a jagged break.

Description: Incomplete Roman gold finger ring of keeled type. It has a plain, flat circular bezel with the shoulders tapering to either side. Both shoulders are flat and have moulded scrollwork decoration. At the tip of each shoulder the loop becomes D-shaped in cross-section, decorated on either side with three radiating lines. The loop terminates in an old break on either side. One long edge is squashed and abraded.

Description: Medieval gold finger-ring with a pseudo-inscription on the exterior face. Narrow circular loop with plain flat inner surface, the flat outer surface engraved with a pseudo-inscription containing a combination of lettering travelling in a combination of conventional and retrograde, the S lying on its side, presumably to fit the width of the hoop. The letter forms appear to vary between Roman and Lombardic styles.

Description: Post-medieval silver cuff link element. A circular disc with a down-turned edge, now bent out of shape in places. The obverse exhibits a stamped repoussé design of two hearts surmounted by a crown on a stippled background (Lewis 2013, Type A). The reverse of the disc exhibits an integrally cast attachment loop. A small section of the silver wire connecting loop terminates in an old break at either end.
Dimensions: Diameter 11.5mm, thickness (including loop) 4.5mm, weight 0.4g. Length of connecting loop 12.5mm, diameter 1.2mm, weight 0.1g, so total weight 0.5g.
